Monte Sano State Park is a 2,140-acre (866 ha) mountaintop retreat located in Huntsville, Alabama. It has 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps rustic cottages, built during the Great Depression, and a prime location with hiking trails overlooking scenic views, picnic areas, and modern campsites. The park officially opened August 25, 1938.[1]
Monte Sano State Park occupies the eastern portion of the top and slopes of Monte Sano Mountain. The park was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on June 19, 1996.[2]
